This place is super super small. Part of it is for adults only, which is the bar side, and the other side is the side of the place that you can take your kids too. There is no real waiting area, except the narrow entrance/walk way that you stand and wait for a table (it seems to be very busy all of the time), while people squeeze their way through to make it to the bathroom, which is through the bar. I pretty much rubbed my butt on anyone sitting down, on my way to the bathroom. I am not a petite woman, but if I was, I still would be rubbing up against everyone because there is no real designated walk way. I understand that these people might be famous, or popular with everyone, but I don't think they should of cramped so many seat inside just to accommodate more customers. Its had to enjoy your self or your company that you are with, when the tables are so close together, you are pretty much eating in a strangers lap. The food was alright. Nothing special for the price. Hamburger was a bit messy, but thats not something a fork and knife cant fix. I usually like to eat mine with a fork and knife anyways. My husband and I are not big drinkers, and when we do dabble in an acaholic drink, its more than likely not beer, as we do not enjoy it in the least. My husband is always attempting it though and sampled three of their beers in shot glasses, that I thought was very cute, and a clever idea for someone like him, who don't drink. I won't really say our opinion on their home brews as like I said, we aren't beer drinkers; so we don't know the real beauty or whats considered quality. Though, there were plenty of people there enjoying pint after pint after pint of it. So they have to be good, I don't know. Always love a good hamburger, but I don't think I will be excited about coming back here. Thanks anyways.

For some reason I have been back to Bill's nearly every time I visit Cannon Beach, and not because it's particularly good. The food is basic-to-less-than-basic bar fare. The beers are decent. It's just... it's there. It's a couple blocks from the beach. It's a tavern and it has cold beer and fish & chips. It could do a lot worse. See you next time, Bill.

Would you like some shrimp with your cocktail sauce? I've got a pretty good idea what a shrimp cocktail should look like, and this isn't it. The shrimp was pretty sickly looking, and was doused with cocktail sauce. We left it less than half eaten, and none of the wait staff thought to ask how everything was at our table. They just didn't seem to care. Just goes to prove that you don't have to be friendly or have good food to stay in business if you have a good location in a busy tourist town like Cannon Beach. Beer was ok. Food left a lot to be desired. Service was even worse.

Hmm... Well... They let me take a picture of one of their signs to send to a friend that I know will get a laugh out of it. Hadn't been to this place since a girls weekend in my early 20s (even though I've been to Cannon Beach many times after) and now I remember why. Came into the bar area to have a beer, some food and just chill after the drive down to the coast and a day on the beaches. They were pretty on top of getting me something to drink and a menu, if I wanted it. Unfortunately, when asked what I wanted to drink, I asked if they had any bourbon, the reply back was "This is a brew pub, we only have beer and wine" with a roll of her eyes & an attitude that I should know better. Well, EXCUSE ME... I know of other brew pubs that offer hard liquor. Ok, no worries, I'll have a beer, some food and find somewhere else to have a bourbon. For drink, I had their offering for Pale Ale. Not bad. I end up ordering the halibut fish and chips. Seriously can't remember if it came with fries or what, no, I only had one beer.. So don't go there. Obviously whatever came with the fish wasn't too impressive. The fish... Hmmm.. Not soo good. Seriously the batter was weak and the basic shape was rectangles. So, I seriously wonder if it was massively produced somewhere else or was it really halibut or?? Bottom line is it wasn't very tasty, but still edible. Price for a beer and the fish and chips.. $16.25. Hmm, should have known, I'm in Cannon Beach. At the end, I was asked if I wanted some triple chocolate, blah blah blah for dessert. Seriously, she said it so fast and over her shoulder yelling it at me from the opposite end of the bar that I didn't know exactly what she was offering, all I did hear was the triple and chocolate (ok, my ears are trained for such things). Um, NO THANKS... Got to get on my way to find me my shot of bourbon for my birthday!!!

We visited this pub twice during Presidents Day weekend cause we didn't learn the first time. The first visit was with a group of nine. They refused to seat or seerve the nineth person. How embarassing. They really don't appreciate any more that four. As a matter of fact that seemed to be the culture in all of Cannon Beach, so Spring Breakers BEWARE. We will probably move our large group three-day weekend outings up the coast where we are really appreciated. The first visit pitcher of Rudy Red was ho hum and food the same. Our second visit was just a couple. Seating no problem, very quick. My partner ordered the special three-piece Halibut Fish & Chips and I ordered a chili dog. You can't screw up a chili dog can you? The fish and chips came out as a shocker. The pieces of Halibut were each about the size of a book of matches next to a cup of ordinary french fries. The chili dog touted in the menu as a BIG MEAL was just a hot dog with some of the worst chili I've ever tasted. All this wonderfulness and a pint of beer each for $25.50! Can you believe it. Must be the Cannon Beach exchange rate. I will say the Blackberry Beauty was the only saving grace.

Food took awhile, but it was worth it. Beers were good (Blackberry ale & 2x4 Stout were especially good) and the onion rings were delicious. Great burger. Fish and chips were okay; clam chowder not as good as Mo's.

  • J B.

this was the worst place I have every eaten .The clam chowder was watery The fish was so greasy and I mean dripping grease. I could not eat it and I said I don't eat French frys and asked for something else .yes for more money so i told them to throw them away .This was suppose to be a fun day and this place ruined it.i had the worst stomach ache. people had shopped to ask where to eat. i said don;'t eat there .there food was awful.it was very over priced for what you got and the waiter was not good .i left him a nothing tip because if gave them $5.00 worth of fries. never again. Ill stick with Lincoln city...how could anybody say it was great. they have never been to san Francisco to eat real clam chowder....wow i'm shocked......they need a new cook sandwiches should have cream cheese and sprouts, not mayo and something green in it...not health buffs....

Came in on a Thursday eve in Feb.. The bar filled by 6:30 (maybe due to the bluegrass circle that started at 7:00, they were very good). The service was fast and efficient. The clam chowder and fish & chips were... okay. I can recommend the 2 by 4 Stout. Let the ReSession Ale warm up a bit. It's served too cold. . Cheers.

Rainy as all get out today, asked a local where to eat, the rest is history.... Party of six, not the best seating 'cause they were two, smallish round tables, but we managed. Two oyster sandwiches, five stars, one shrimp and cheese, five stars, one burger, 4-1/2 stars, same for chili and spinach salad. Cod fish and chips, sorry, very watery only two stars. Homemade root beer, a little sweet but OK. No kids in the adult side, lots of locals. We shall definitely return. Great two waitresses, didn't catch names but very accommodating to senior citizens! Funky atmosphere but in a nice way, after all it is a brew pub, not Four Seasons! Check it out!

  • Rebekah B.

The Blackberry beer is delicious! I'm not a huge beer fan but this was an amazing treat! Their chilidog is fantastic! Would for sure visit agin if we are able to return to CB. Only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is when it's super busy the "seat yourself" rule makes it a little more difficult

After a beautiful afternoon on the beach we ended up at Bill's Tavern to get some food, but mainly to try the Blackberry Beauty Beer thanks to Yelp! I don't usually drink much beer *listens for gasps*, but I loved this one. It was light with a refreshing Blackberry aftertaste. Delicious!!! My partner also had the 2x4 Stout that was dark and rich! A little too dark for me, but he seemed to like it. We ordered Chicken Cobb Salad, Jalapeno Poppers, Cod Fish & Chips for lunch and they were on point! The Cod was a little small, but it was crispy and moist so no big deal! Bill's is a seat yourself kind of place and is quite small, so finding a seat during peak times could be quite challenging. It's also divided into family dining on the left side and over-21 bar on the right side. We had no issues with the service on the bar side. Our waitress was quick and efficient, as were the rest of the staff on that side. We'll definitely come back next time we're in Cannon Beach!

Pitiful service when they were not even busy. High and mighty tourist town server attitude. Sub par at best. Beer was ok. Most beer is though. Keep looking if in this area.

This review is only for the beer so take it how you want to take it! I was here 5/2/10. I'd been here a few years ago and remembered the beer being good. As to the reviews for bad service - I must have gone at just the right time. Well...ALMOST the right time as it was an hour before happy hour. Dangit. Anyhow the service was wonderful. We were served by 3 cool ladies who joked about the awesome early 90's pop on the stereo. Sophie B. Hawkins, Stereo MCs... ahh middle school... Oh and I saw a cute little old man who appeared 70something tapping his foot to Depeche Mode. It warmed the cockles of my heart. We only had beer at 4.20 a pint but 2.50 at happy hour which is a killer price for a house brew... I think my favorite was the stout. It was roasty and caramelly (too bad my guy ordered it and not me). The Blackberry was good but more of a hot weather beer IMO. The Weiss was light and slightly bubblegummy. Mmmm. The food prices actually looked really affordable which surprised us. Too bad we had eaten a huge Pig N Pancake breakfast. So yeah, if you're at the coast and want to try some tasty beverages, try Bill's. Sit in the bar area and relax to the sounds of Ugly Kid Joe and EMF.

We showed up for a late lunch @ about 2PM. The place was packed with a line for the bar side and one table available in the family dining section, which we took. A quick trip to the head & then a few short minutes of waiting before we were asked for our drink order. Ordered the Bill's sampler, which arrived very quick. Features beers: Asa's Blonde; Blackberry Beauty; Duckdive Pale; Evil Twin IPA; Rudy's Red (plus some guest taps, no Bud, Miller or Coors, thankfully). I'm not usually impressed with Blonde Ales, but I really liked this one. Ditto fruit flavored ales...but the Blackberry Beauty was a real treat...a light fruit start that dissipated to a mild ale finish. I am usually a huge IPA fan, but did not like this one. The Pale was my favorite. The burger was just okay.

A pretty good pub in a pretty cool town. Food was decent and very reasonably priced. Good burgers. Liked the house beer - they had 6 to choose from - I had the duckdive American ale. Nice hoppy. Beers for 4. Burgers for 6. Good deal for a touristy town right on main drag. It was pretty quiet and service was prompt and friendly. Probably a solid 3.5 but rounded up because the chili burger was good and I was hungry and thirsty

We stopped in for lunch and were generally unimpressed. To start with, they were unapologetically out of their signature blackberry ale, and our server was indifferent about recommending an alternative --seemed like this happens often, and in my opinion, a brewpub ought to have all its most popular ales available at all times. We ordered a burger & an oyster burger, a spruce ale, and the home-brewed root beer. The burger was well-prepared for texture and juiciness, but lacked seasoning. The oyster burger was similarly well-cooked, but unprepared. Additionally, we felt like $8 burgers should include fries, rather than charging an additional $1.50 for the option. The root beer was interesting and individual, a little darker and with a heavier blend of anaise and a nice woody aftertaste. Service was inattentive.

Very loud when you walk in, but hey it's a pub! The beer was good. I enjoyed the 2x4 stout, my husband is a porter fan and they didn't have any of their own so he settled for a Black Butte Porter (no complaining it is one of his faves). We were just looking for a light lunch and a beer. We ordered Clam chowder since spending $15 dollars for fish in chips for lunch sounded a little outrageous and the burgers came with potato chips, but you could add fries for a dollar kinda put me off. The clam chowder had decent flavor, but when I think chowder I think thick and hardy. The chowder was very thin and soupy. The guy at the bar was friendly enough, but the girl kept complaining about how she hated that the boss had to decorate for halloween and how she couldn't wait to be done with this place, she's quitting, going somewhere.....on and on and on. Sorry but I don't want to hear you complaining about a place that I'm eating at and trying to enjoy-Thank-you very much. Hey but good thing is by the time you read this she won't be there!

Simple food done quite well! Onion rings were perfectly done...crisp with a light batter and very flavorful. Some of the best we've had! Hamburger was dripping juice but no grease stain on the paper. Obviously good quality beef. The cod was perfectly cooked.....crispy batter and not too heavy. Beer was good too and wait staff were friendly. Cool place!!

I had a very pleasant lunch at Bill's. Considering the location (centrally located, near shops catering to tourists), I would not have been surprised to find mediocre food and high prices. Instead, I found very agreeable food, good service, and prices that were quite reasonable. All in all, this was a great place to find lunch in an unfamiliar town. Three of us had the clam chowder, and it was creamy and tasty, rather than the gloppy, overly thick product available elsewhere. The house Porter was very nice, and the iced tea was above average - not the sweetened mix that shows up all too often. I plan to come back to Bill's whenever I'm along this stretch of the coast.

I was relieved to find a nice pub in the middle of Cannon Beach. I love trying new beers and Bill's selections didn't disappoint. I love when a good Stout is on the menu! The food was good, too. The halibut fish and chips had a high fish to batter ratio, which I always appreciate. Their oyster shooters were tasty, though the cocktail sauce was a little overpowering. A great chill spot, for sure!

Cool looking bar, great local beers, bad atmosphere. My boyfriend stopped in for some dinner upon arriving on Cannon Beach for a short vacation & as soon as we walked in it seemed as if we weren't welcome. Basic bar food, pretty greasy & overpriced. Don't bother if your not local.

Bill's is always a stop for us while in the CB. They have a great beer sampler (loved them all) and big fat clams in the clam strips. Not those whimpy ones you ussually get. And they have a killer homemade tarter sauce.

We walked in here on a quiet cold Valentines day weekend. We didn't want food but eventually after seeing, what seemed like everyone.. ordering the onion rings, we got em! They were great and our service was great. He was just on everything. We would just look his way and he would come over right way. We decided okay lets try the sampler and really see what Bills has to offer. I quickly fell in love with the porter and John loved the 2x4. We just popped in because we had plans else where but we kept talking about Bill's Tavern. A great pub in the middle of everything.

Headed down to Cannon Beach for what I was hoping to be better weather than Washington. But, we got one day of sun shine and overcast. At any rate, that's not the restaurants fault. My friend and I actually came here twice. The first time they only had two people in the bar working. Well maybe someone was in the kitchen. But serving people there were only two and it was Friday night and the bar was full. It took awhile to order our ales - to be perfectly honest with you it was okay ale - I can't remember the name of it but it was okay. The thing we really liked on their menu was their jalapeno poppers. They were probably the best I've ever had. So, we came back the next night for some more. This time we sat on the kid friendly side of the restaurant and the service was a little better. We came here after having a beer across the street - their bar was standing room only. Which doesn't make them better than Bill's just busier. I would stop in again if just for the jalapeno poppers. They have a kid's menu and on the adult menu they have regular burgers, fish burgers, and oyster burgers. Even a gardenburger. Prices are from $6.50 to 7.75. They also have sandwiches from Turkey & Cheese to a Grilled Cheese. The sandwiches are served with potato chips. Whoop de doo. They range from $4.50 to $9.00 (Shrimp and Cheese). Their dinner menu has such things as Fish & Chips with your choice of Cod (15.50) or Halibut (19.00). Most of the dinner menu is seafood. Well wait a minute not most but all of it. I think it's pricey and would stick with a burger and a beer. They accept plastic for payment but no checks.

Beer was flat and the food looked pretty bad. Staff was friendly. We went in for drinks and food, ended up just having a beer and bolting to another spot for food.

My boyfriend and I stayed around the corner from this spot last month. It wasn't quite tourist season yet, so it was pretty quiet. We got in while there were only a couple other people in the restaurant, but shortly after it started to fill up. There was only one man working the bar/serving. Despite that, the service was speedy and cheerful. The food was also great. The seafood medley was tasty, but the seafood stew was tops--lots of seafood and an awesome tomato-ey broth (I think there's beer in it?). Portions were a good size, prices were a little high for a tavern, but doable. The chocolate cake was good, though we saw the same cake at the coffee shop across the street the next day, so it's clearly not house-made or anything. Overall, good food, good beer, cheerful service. I'll be back the next time I'm in town.

Been coming here for years, everytime were in Cannon Beach. Fun beer (I like the 2x4 stout) and pub food. Noticed that they added an IPA to the list (Evil Twin) since the last time we were here....it was a little sweet, but otherwise a solid IPA. This time we had an grilled oyster burger with a side of onion rings---yum! The clam chowder was ok (I like it thicker but was still passable). The place was packed (everyone trying to escape the stormy weather).

Never Again! The evening bartender was incredibly rude and disrespectful. My date wasn't happy with the beer he suggested as an alternative to her preference (which they were out of) and inquired as to what other options were available. I cannot write his reponse here, it is unprintable. In settling the tab he refused to credit us for the beer. he refused to allow me to speak with the manager by phone or in person and threatened me with (alternative measures) if I refused to pay for the unfinished beer. His dimeanor was as threatening as was his tone. In my life, I have never been treated with such disrespect and threatened with... well, I can only assume... violence. Amazing!

Good drinks ($3 a pop!), friendly staff, live music. Not too shabby at all. That said, I probably wouldn't come here with kids as you couldn't sit in the bar area. And of course they don't have a full bar--it is a brew pub, what do you expect!?

  • Jevon B.

The burger was excellent- nothing fancy but your basic beef & veggies combined very well. The fried halibut was also very tasty, but the tartar sauce was to thick to dip effectively and, I thought, not tangy enough. I had the house Kolsch, which was quite good, and my girlfriend tried the house blackberry beer and really liked it. It was a bit too sweet for me, but good as far as fruity beers go. The burger was very reasonable at $8 but the halibut was quite expensive at $19 for six pieces. Service was a bit slow, but friendly.

My wife and I had dinner there Friday night! The seafood stew was the best ever! Linda had a cheese burger and it was delicious too! The best blackberry beer ever, and the service was outstanding!!! Thank you, Bill

This would be the perfect place in CB to have an interesting Burger and Fries. A beautiful, beachy building and I hear quite good beer. Instead, I'm sure they survive soley on their beer and charm while the Burger and fries are nearly identical to at least 3 other places in town I'm sure because they all buy from the same purveyor and lack the same imagination to do anything interesting with their food. The only adequate yet bored and far too hip service further contribute to yet another blasé CB experience.

HORRIBLE staff, small portions, high prices. We had sat at our table for over 10 minutes when we were finally greeted by a brusk server who seemed irritated for no apparent reason. When we asked if he could recommend one of their house beers, he incredibly responded with a racist insult to my girlfriend, "Which flavors do you prefer, grape or banana?" with a smirk. $15 for the smallest fish and chips you've ever seen, the halibut was fresh at least but bland, bland, bland and came with less fries than a happy meal. Finally, when we pulled out our cards to pay, the same rude server dramatically reached across the table, grabbed the menu, slammed it down and said "Let me show you something okay?" and pointed to the "One Check Only Please" printed on the bottom of it. Having overlooked this on arrival, we apologized, but he seemed ticked off to an unreasonable degree and then proceeded to throw a calculator on the table and walked off in a huff. We were shocked, but politely divided our nearly $100 bill up (sans tip of course). To add insult to injury, on our way out, some of the other wait staff called us "immature" for not tipping their deplorable server. Do not waste your time or money at this horror movie of an establishment. Bill should be ashamed.

Sometimes you go to a bar or restaurant and when you leave you u say to yourself, "It is what it is." There is nothing outstanding about this place but the pacific kolsch was nice. I did enjoy it. The food is simple, not great but not bad, it Is what it is....... Cheers!

In Cannon Beach I could not find a single restaurant with a view of the ocean. This was at least walking distance to the beach. I had the fish and chips with a Diet Coke. The coke was fine. The chips (fries) were good and the fish was fresh. Overall, the food was good and the prices were okay. The service was slow at first but, improved once I received my food. The atmosphere was okay. It was a good place to go if you want a drink and some quick food. There are tables outside to eat.

Nice and laid back within walking distance from our hotel. They have their own beer which got a huge thumbs up from my beer snob husband. Their beer sampler had 7 types and cost 5 bucks- not bad! Great onion rings. If we lived here we would be regulars.

Very cool ambiance and great beer. Sampled several of their beers and they're all excellent. Only ordered onion rings, which were good, so no comments on food other than it all looked good coming out of the kitchen.

It kinda makes me sad that the two reviews bringing this place down are sort of whiny. I had a good experience here. I thought the bartenders/servers were above average. They have a good beer selection. I had a burger. It was average. There don't seem to be too many bar options in Cannon Beach, so I think this is a good place to go relax and have a beer and hang out for a while.

the last place i expected to find gluten-free, vegetarian dinner was this place, but lo & behold - there it is! i had the burrito without the tortilla and the friendly server was happy to oblige. the chef didn't just dump the filling onto a plate - he made a dish out of it. the tasty rice & beans were served up in a casserole dish with the cheese melted on top and the lettuce & tomatoes on the side. it was a very nice way to present a significantly altered dish and i appreciated it very much. bonus: they serve cider! my husband was happy with the beer selection.

We sat and waited around for a while until we finally figured out that you had to place your orders at the bar. The servers just walked around us, and never even bothered to inform us of this fact.. so very considerate of them! After we ordered from the bar, it took 40 minutes for us to get our fish and chips. We were almost done eating when one of the waitresses just reached over my table and helped herself to some ketchup, so that she could pass it over to the next table that she was serving. Look, I know that she did not serve us, and that she was not getting a tip directly from my table.. but how rude is that? She did not even say, "excuse me". I know that this is a bar and not really a place where one would go to get food.. either way.. for beers or for food, I won't be back for sure! There's no reason to treat your customers like crap!

Just back from dinner. Food was delicious! Salad was very fresh! Had a need for french fries, they were very good. Crispy, no salt...perfect! Ordered the Fish stew with garlic toast. Very flavorful red broth full of fish, bay shrimp, bay scallops and prawns. Good flavor and fresh tasting ingredients. Service was great too!

The worst experience in a restaurant in my life. The scruffy man acting as a server, Mike, is the rudest person I have ever encountered in a restaurant. This place should be closed for the benefit of the community. Patronize at your own risk. They do not like anyone but "locals"

beer was ok. fish and chips were not up to par for a seaside tourist town. tasted like something you could get at any seafood place but it was still priced high like a tourist town place. the place was dirty and the service was average...wouldn't go back

We got to Cannon Beach rather late on friday night wanting some quick satisfying food and stumbled upon Bill's. It was a little more crowded than other places and we decided to give it a try. I was happy to find several vegetarian options on their dinner menu and very reasonable prices. I had the black bean burrito which was large and pretty good for bar food. My bf had the fish and chips, which he enjoyed but certainly wasn't blown away with. We also tried Bill's brews, which I have to say, I was not so impressed with. They had 3 options, one of which was a fruit beer, and the one we choose had an off taste to it. I can't recommend the beers, but the food was decent, the service was good, and it seems like a good option, particularly for a late night bite.

Went here yesterday for dinner. It took a while to get a table even though there were two empty tables just waiting to be cleared up. Once we sat down though the service was good. I had the sauteed shrimp entree, an oyster shooter and the chocolate lava cake. I didn't think the sauteed shrimp was anything special, but better than expected. But then the oyster shooter came. THIS THING WAS AWESOME. Honestly I think the best raw oyster I've ever had. I would have given this place a low 3 if it wasn't for this thing. The next time the waitress came by I immediately asked for another one. And they're only 1.75 each. Pretty damn good. The chocolate lava cake was pretty decent, nothing to write home about but served its purpose. The rest of my party and I all agreed it had a cake-from-a-box texture, but was a much darker chocolate than any box cake, which we liked. And they put a pretty good raspberry sauce on it. Overall, decently priced food. A solid meal. GET THE OYSTER SHOOTER.

In our most recent visit to Bill's Tavern, everything started off just as planned: the service was good and the food was excellent (some of the best chowder I've ever had). As we were waiting for our check to arrive, our 2 year old son wandered the empty dining room and entryway. A few minutes after making a surprise circuit around the entire restaurant (through the bar area), a man identifying himself as the owner approached my wife and in a rude and condescending manner,he told us we needed to maintain control of our child. In just a 15 second conversation, he managed to imply we were horrible parents that gave birth to a problem child. I've never been belittled like that, let alone as a customer. As much as I love the food, beverages and service at Bill's Tavern, it's going to be difficult to return, especially if I know the owner is present. Families beware.

We come to CB a few times a year and have always stopped at Bill's (just haven't reviewed before) and have always enjoyed our time here. This changed a bit at our last visit 2 weeks ago, had two visits here with different results Stopped here on a Thursday night,(ahead of the rest of our group for the weekend) it was rather busy, but we managed to get a booth. Prompt, friendly service, we both enjoyed our beers. We were pleasantly surprised when music started, we hadn't notice a bluegrass group tucked over in the corner, we were too busy grabbing the last booth! The group were very good and the crowd gathered around was great also. We ordered chowder to start and enjoyed it, even though we thought is was missing something, but still pretty yummy. I had a blt for dinner, with really great bacon and toasted to perfection, the tomatoes were good considering it was January. DH enjoyed his dinner, but we can't remember what he had now! Had another beer, with continued friendly service. Kicked back a bit to enjoy the music, as usual another satisfying trip to Bill's. Two days later we returned with others in our group, which included our DS, DIL, their baby, (9 mos. old) and some friends. We were merely stopping for a brew or two and to get some growlers filled. We sat in the "family," section which wasn't busy at all. Our waitress made it very clear from the start, (by rolling her eyes) that she wasn't into babies. Although, our grandson is one of the happiest babies you may meet, attested so by not only family but friends alike. He was well behaved, just sitting in his little kid high chair pushed up to the end of the table. We ended up adding a table on the end of the booth to accomodate all of us. Once the rest of our group arrived, some of us changed places in the booth/table. This apparently irritated the waitress as she commented on it in a negative manner. We never did see any signs that stated not to change seats once seated! There were other instances of eye rolling along with her bad attitude. My DIL had finally had enough and when she returned to our table, she just asked her if she had a problem with children, she was taken aback and in the most insincere voice you could have rebuffed her suggestion and said no, he's just so cute. She hadn't even so much as acknowledged his presence since he came in w/us and he's a very cute, sweet little guy. It was just plain and simple to see that she didn't like kids. None in our group were convinced by her remarks. Our grandson, wasn't eating food, so making no messes as you see some kids make, he was sitting in his chair, playing and hanging out, and never cried. If Bill's ownership has issues with children (which I doubt) or if it was blind to this employees dislike of them, this issue should be dealt with. You either offer the "family," section where families are treated respectfully as paying customer's or you should only allow of age adults. Either embrace it or don't offer it. MY DH and I will continue to stop at Bill's when in CB, but now only when our kids aren't traveling with us. I would have given Bill's 4 or 5 stars but just couldn't based on the our 2nd experience this weekend.

My husband and I went to Bill's on a recent sunny Sunday during our visit to CB. It was hoppin' inside the pub so we nabbed two seats at the bar. Both of us got a glass of beer and I ordered a burger with fries, and my husband ordered a bowl of chowder. The food took awhile to arrive, however, it was very busy that afternoon and my burger and fries were served piping hot, as was my husband's chowder. Everything was tasty, and the burger fulfilled my burger craving. It was also thick without being dried out or undercooked--and again, the fact that it was hot enough to make me wait a little was great because I knew I was getting something straight off the griddle. The fries were fine, and the chowder was a good balance of creamy/seafood-y (clammy didn't sound like a proper description). I also like that our bill for 2 small glasses of beer, the chowder and the burger combo was around $20. Other places had similar items that cost a few bucks more a pop--Bill's prices made it easier on the wallet to order beers. We'll go back here again on our next visit.

I always love to support a local spot. The beer was fine, the service was mediocre and the food was just okay. All in all, there are many other spots I'd visit in Cannon Beach before heading back to Bill's. If you're in the mood for a greasy burger or sandwich and don't want to worry about a wait, Bill's is probably your place. For me, though, when I visit the beach I'm ultimately looking for a sweet, cozy spot with delicious northwest fare.

Always a good place to stop for a burger and beer while in Cannon Beach. I am sure there are many other places for decent food there however, you always know what you're going to get at Bill's. The food is ok, just average pub food but the beer is nice and so is the service. We've been a few times when the service wasn't great but overall, it's fine. This place is always packed so we were lucky to get a table in the bar a few days ago. There's no kiddos allowed in that section however, they're allowed on the other side of the restaurant. I suggest Bill's Tavern if you are in town and hungry and want a beer!

I just had a beer here this time, but I've had food here before too. For a beer I had the blackberry wheat which was really tasty and had a lot of fruit flavor. The beers were reasonably priced. Just by looking at the menu the prices were not horrible for Cannon Beach. There was a 5 piece halibut & chips for like $15 or so. Not a bad deal! If I were in a Cannon Beach i would stop here again!

Bills is a bit of a mixed bag. We stopped in on a Wednesday night and were seated immediately, and the waiter brought menus and drinks very quickly. We placed our orders and waited. And waited. And waited. The waiter checked in with us and the kitchen numerous times, refilling our drinks, clearly trying his best to get our orders moving. It wasn't just us, either - all the tables seemed to have a long wait for food. The kitchen is S.L.O.W. When the food finally arrived, it was quite good - basic burgers, fish and chips. Nothing extraordinary, but we both enjoyed what we ordered. I think Bills would be a good place to go if you wanted to have a few beers before eating, or hang out a good long time. It's not a good place to go if you're already hungry when you sit down.

Delicious fish and chips and chowder. They brew their own beer upstairs, try the blackberry beauty!

Food was good - nothing amazing though. My friends liked the clam chowder, but I didn't try it. We got the seafood platter with cod, halibut, prawns, and fried oysters. Everything but the oysters were good. I had to spit the oyster out it was so bad. I've had oysters before that were good, however these were not. The service was just okay. We had to ask twice for our drinks to be refilled.

Been here several times over the years and it's always been just barely okay. The physical attributes of the facility are nice but the food is really not good (the fish and chips were not good and the Reuben was average at best) and their beer is about average. We ate here most recently last week and I must say that the waitress we had was super friendly and prompt. They have a great location going for them which, in a tourist town, often means average at best food.

I was here a couple months ago. Had the seafood grilled cheese and it was to die for. Not too greasy or heavy, just really nice and flavourful. Other than that, the service was good, patio sunny, and drinks flowing so who am I to complain? Not a beer drinker so I can't comment on the brew, sadly.

Great place to eat! We were not expecting much but the service was great - super fast too! My husband went for their beer tasting flight and was very happy. I went for their halibut fish and chips and a cup of chowder which were both VERY good and wow - $48+tip for entrees that were huge, desert and a beer flight??!! Great deal!

F**K ME SIDEWAYS the blackberry beauty beer is delicious!!! I don't drink much beer. In fact, I probably drink a 6 pack annually. But this beer was amazing. Holy s**t was it delicious. It was light and refreshing with a nice taste of blackberry. It was a little hoppy but nothing heavy or overwhelming. Definitely a nice light beer for anyone who doesn't want something filling. The burger was pretty awful. The meat didn't taste fresh, the buns disintegrated into oblivion, the bacon was tasty though, and the tillamook cheddar was awful. I know Tillamook products are the pride of many and maybe the cheddar is great as is or with some wine but it was TERRIBLE cooked. It let out so much grease that it took us awhile to figure out where all that grease came from. It's definitely not a good cheese to put on a burger. I had a difficult time finishing it because that cheese just had so much oil it made it difficult to enjoy the actual burger. The service was wonderful though. I feel sorry for the lady working the entire restaurant by herself including the bar, but she multi-tasked really well and was really attentive throughout the meal. DISCLAIMER: I'm giving it 4 stars because of the service and that amazing beer. I'd pass on the burger and fries though and give that a 2 at best. One of the only places open in this sleepy town that's still off-season.

If you are not a local or regular, be prepared to be ignored or have horrible service. Middle of the road beer selection, food is just typical bar food, nothing fun or positive about the place. If you like to gamble, they have some machines in the back and they also have several TVs showing whatever sports are on that day.

This is like 2 restaurant's in one. On one side is the gritty bar, with dark wood and an array of beers on tap. On the other side is the family restaurant (minors can't be served in the bar). This is a pub through-and-through. Great beers made on site with a constantly rotating selection. I had the Stranger IPA, which was very good. The brewhouse separates the bar and the family dining area. The burgers are excellent (no fillers, just real meat), and come with the option of a GF bun, which is great for my girls. The fish & chips were also great. Personally, I enjoy the bar side of the restaurant, which has an old-world, coastal pub, feel to it. But when the whole family is here, we go to the other side, or sit outside. What struck me as great about Bill's, is the service, which is excellent. The servers are fast and attentive. Our server looked like Ragnar from Vikings, which made the kids happy. I'll come back another time and hang out for a while in the bar; this is a cool little pub.

Quite possibly the rudest service we've ever experienced. I can't even comment on the food because of how RUDE, RUDE, RUDELY we were treated. If zero stars were possible that would be our review. One of the few times we've been tempted to walk out of an establishment.

    (1)
  • Candyce C.

Not sure what the top reviews are for? My husband and I were met with a rude "welcome" by a server that the restaurant was segregated based upon age- minors only allowed on one side, including our six-week old (because he's going to do some underage drinking or get into a brawl). We then ordered a tasting flight- looking forward to some great beer, but highly disappointed. Half the flight tasted like dirt and the blackberry beauty was pretty flat. Last, several servers were wearing sandals! Major health code violation - don't drop any knives near those toes! Don't recommend coming here for the beer or service.

Down from 3 stars. I'll reiterate what I said last time: they're a bar. With food. Know what comes first and what comes second. Kitchen staff sucks and - sacrilegious - can't cook a hamburger at anything less than "well done." The wait for the food will ALWAYS be painfully long (and the waiter will be sure and let you know the kitchen is backed up). Do NOT believe the bull!@# about the fish and chips - I don't care if they are fresh fish... they're fried in oil that's well under frying temp, resulting in greasy, mush. Presented on the menu as "5 pieces"... expect to find 5 nuggets. For $22. Avoid the sandwiches which are typically less than 7-11 fridge quality. Chili was acceptable. Clam chowder was awesome. Beer was excellent. Better than all the times before was our waiter - that's 2 out of 3ish times with a good waiter, but a sh!@#ty one, combined with not knowing what of the bar food to avoid is going to leave you wishing you'd passed this one over. They're better than the other restaurants near - the Driftwood Inn across the street and the Fireside Inn on the corner are MUST AVOIDS - so give 'em a shot... IF Castaways at the end of the street or Irish Table at the far other side of town are busy and can't fit you in. BUT KNOW WHAT YOU'RE ORDERING... or just stick with beer. Can't go wrong with beer. ;)

The service was not friendly or helpful-- it took ten minutes to get our tab. The Duck Dive Pale Ale is awful. DO NOT DRINK THE DUCK DIVE. It is bitter and flavorless at the same time, and almost skunky. They did not have a house brewed IPA, which seems like a standard beer for a brewery to have. I won't be going back to Bill's.

  • Shanna C.

The food here is yummy but mostly deep fried and can be a bit bland. The reason I give 4 stars is because both times we have been (one time was very busy and the other time is was slower), we have had awesome service - attentive and fast. We also enjoy the taster flights. They always offer a few very interesting beers with the most recent one being one brewed with what smelled and tasted like jalapeños! I have tried a lot of beer and it was very unique and tasty!

I have been going to this restaurant with my family for years and they never disappoint. Sometimes it's a little painfully slow getting a table but the wait is worth it! The servers are always on top of things and the food is amazing.

The beer wAs good the staff was friendly but......we sat down and it took 10 minutes for staff to even acknowledge us! Finally our server came over and ordered beers right away. Beers arrived and we ordered food. 50 minutes later our food arrived....oyster burger and fish & chips....bland, bland, and bland! No seasoning at all. Very disappointed. Every table was full and the staff was busy but to not even acknowledge us and for our food to take that long wAs in my opinion ridiculous.

Oh Bills Tavern. Not even the locals seemed to know you brewed your own beer when we asked around before coming. We risked it and eeeeeeh. We sat at the bar as we just wanted to try some local beer even if not brewed there. We found out it was brewed there. Cool! We ordered a flight of all available to see what we wanted. The beers were so so but blackberry beauty was good. Most others were probably 5 of 10, but hey, alcohol! The burgers did look good but we didn't try it. Why the 2 stars? Not the service but the staff. They were quick but seemed to give two rats about anyone. Most breweries are excited to say HEY! This is my beer and why it's different or you should drink it. The blonde bartender just skipped over what was what other than a short "light to dark" which was a given, but they were missing one. The porter tasted and looked like a stout(and also not last, so we thought it was weird stout not last) so we asked more about the beers and greeted with an eye roll that it was in fact the porter and the one that had a small head and very light color was the stout. The other staff walked around like zombies with long faces as if they were subject to slave labor and wished they could be anywhere else. Right before leaving the bartender told the people next to us that her shift was done and to order now if they wanted. They said they were good, would think on it, and transfer the tab if needed. The bartender's response? "Or you can just pay right now" Glad to know you care nothing about your establishment or customers, blonde bartender lady.

Good was decent. Beers were a little bland. We sat on the patio and the signs specifically say to go into the bar to order your food and drink inside. Does that mean I should tip myself for waiting my table? Very strange...

The staff was friendly, and attentive. And the fish & chips was spot on. Asa's Premium Blonde is light and smooth, with little head. Its very drinkable.

Great blackberry beer. I was skeptical it would be too sweet but no. Light and wheat/blackberry. Been back for a growler ($21) and groaner refill ($16). Food was good solid bar food. They were busy and the seat yourself was challenging especially when crowds built and we didn't know who was waiting for an outside table, a "minors" side (bummer when adults who can sit anywhere fill up those tables), and outside areas. Would give a 3.5 stars if that was an option because of the seating woes. Server was busy and running around a lot but good. Beer brought it to a 4. Service and food a 3.5

  • Wendy J.

Over hopped beer. Tried a blackberry (in season) blend, was flat, watery. Loved the fish n chips but wow, small portions for the price. This restaurant suffers from a familiar illness, they have a great location. They don't have to be great to be packed all the time. And so it seems no one is reaching for quality. Server was dry, practically cold but I liked him anyway because he was attentive and responsive.

Judging from the more recent reviews I would guess the service staff at Bill's are already starting to split at the seams in what is sure to be yet another busy tourist season. While I would love a society where everyone treats each other with respect but I'll play devil's advocate for a moment and try and think about what the staff at Bill's could be going through. First off, the place is located in the eye of the tourist storm. It's on the main street just down from one of the primary beach access points. I'm sure they have what feels like an endless river of people pouring through the doors that are wanting their holiday to be perfect in a world that is anything but that. Maybe it's not working out as they had envisioned and are stressed. Maybe it's going rather peachy for the tourist and the server is annoyed by their joy as they are a slave to the grind. I can tell you as someone who's busy season is also during the small window of good weather in the PNW that it can be a bit soul crushing to be missing out on the sun while those around you are enjoying it. I know life's not fair but we're all human beings and as such our emotions are sometimes our enemies. I'm sure the folks at Bill's have made the realization that there are little to no repercussions for being sub par in service or quality. Short of the place being on fire nothing will stop the endless rotation of customers during the peak season. No matter how many people they piss off or bad Yelp reviews they have the fact is the location and type of establishment Bill's is ensures they will have customers well into the foreseeable future. Even when the rain returns and the tourist are down to a slow trickle I'm sure the locals will return to the watering hole. Another thing to consider is the type of people the staff may be dealing with day in and day out. Since it's a pub they may be dealing with a lot of drunk people. Drunk people can be very difficult for a completely sober and busy person to deal with. They can be rude, unreasonable, loud, talkative, annoying and a liability for the server and establishment. They may be dealing with rich people who are very used to having everything their way and getting their behinds kissed at the same time. The staff there aren't getting paid a king's ransom to rent themselves away and probably act in kind. Imagine how many customers come in wearing designer cloths with flashy jewelry and carrying bags of trinkets and then don't have the class to even tip. I can't tell you how many times I've been in line at a place like a sandwich or coffee shop and someone makes these long detailed orders with no regard to price or awareness to annoyance then don't even tip the coinage they get back. Sometimes the upper class has no class at all. Perhaps they are overworked and understaffed. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. Now after that diatribe I will just say the Blonde is fair and the Blackberry Beauty is freaking awesome. The food is good for the price. I've had the turkey sandwich and the chicken burger and both were tasty. Be reasonable and patient and hopefully the world will be a little bit better for all.

Food was pretty good, the service was lacking. Had to flag down the waiter more than twice to get our drinks and soup. Friendly staff, but not very attentive. I think it's mostly due to understaffing. But for such a small town it's to be expected a bit.

What a wide range of reviews. I was there on 8/21 while on vacation. I don't have my itemized receipt, but the cost for three of us was $46.75 for the hummus plate and two sandwiches, two sodas and five beers. Seems like a value to me. The food was good. The beer was excellent. Kelly B. the server was friendly and efficient. This is a true nanobrewery. A few small tanks are in a glass enclosed room separating the dining room from the bar. It is not fancy, but it has character. I don't think it was "touristy." Sure, some of us were visitors, but there were plenty of locals. Cannon Beach was my favorite town outside of Portland during our vacation, and Bill's is a great local business I'd surely return to. Let me know what you think of this review by clicking a button below. Thanks.

I'm giving Bill's Tavern & Brewhouse five stars because I loved my cheeseburger and actually ate the whole thing (which hardly ever happens). I got just a regular cheeseburger and fries. The only beers they have are all made in-house. I had the Blackberry Beauty and it was delicious. It's more on the light side of beers. My bf got the oyster burger, which he said was very good. I don't eat seafood but I'll take his word for it. He also got the onion rings, which I ate as well and they were very good. All around a great place to take a break and eat. Very friendly atmosphere.

Burgers were good, and the server (Brooke) was very friendly and prompt. Didn't take but about 15 minutes to get food. We came at a slow time of day so maybe service was better since it wasn't overly busy. We didn't have anything negative to say :)

3.5 Stars. We stopped in here for dinner before we left to go further down the coast. We ordered the jalapeño poppers for an appy, these were really good. I had the shrimp sandwich, it was super rich with the sauce and cheese whoa! I couldn't finish it. The staff was friendly and welcoming. They have a classic pub style decor. I was bummed that I didn't get to try some of their beer (Designated driver); I'll have to do that next time I'm through.

Food is okay; your typical, run-of-the-mill, fried bar food. Regardless of the food, we come here almost every time we are in Cannon Beach for the relaxed, beach-pub atmosphere and the beer =). I tried the session ale this last time and it was delicious.

This is our go to restaurant whenever we arrive in town after the long drive down from Seattle. Seating is a bit sparse for families with kids but we've always figured out how to arrange our table to accommodate all five of us. Service is always fast and friendly and the beers are great. Go for the halibut fish and chips and throw in some onion rings for the table...and your vacation is off to a fabulous start!

Two stars for the edible food, so-so service. My first feeling when walking into Bill's Tavern was that unless you are a local, you'll get less-than-stellar service. How true it was. We seated ourselves and the hipster dude that took our orders was less than excited to be there, yet there was a loud bunch by the window (locals?) and he brought out all their food to freaking cheers and had grandiose presentation---yet we got our food without a peep and I never got a water refill. Other tables got the grandiose presentation act as well. Okay, so I'm 27 and didn't bring my ID with me (my oops), but my husband ordered the Blackberry Beauty beer, which was heavenly. I took ONE SIP and one second later, the hipster server backtracked to our table and said, "I can't let you drink that without ID!" I say, "Sorry, I left it where we're staying." He could've been totally polite about it and I'm a reasonable adult, but he said in a harsh tone, "You CANNOT drink that without ID, THANK YOU!" and he zipped off and kept eyeballing our table after that. In a nutshell, his idiot behavior ruined our lunch. If he had been nice about it, that would've made all the difference. Husband and I both thought he was a jerk about it. Oh well, I took a few more sips anyway. Screw hipster server jerk. There was another employee dressed hipster-ish and he roamed the restaurant in a creepy way clearing tables. He cleared ours without so much as a smile or kind smalltalk, but acted like a zombie. Going back to the locals thing, when I walked back to the bathroom, a bunch of people gave me dirty looks. Seriously? You guys live in a beach town with nothing but art galleries and a freaking huge rock monolith---get over yourselves. Oh and the French fries are disgusting. I "upgraded" from a bag of chips to fries for $1.50 more but they were hard and flavorless. They didn't taste fresh at all. My husband loved his clam chowder and my burger with bacon & Tillamook cheddar was yummy, but that's all I can say for this place. Bottom line: Food is good, but not good enough to make me stay and get patronized. (True, I should've had my ID, I get that, but come on. Turn a blind eye, it's not like I'm buying a 6-pack). PS Read reviews for Warren House Pub, which own Bill's Tavern (or so others say) and horrible service is a common complaint for both locations.

It's a Tavern. In a beach town. With some of the best beer on the coast. This will leave you with locals, good seafood and decent service. Try any of their seafood. All fresh ingredients. Must try the beers. Lots of options. Brewed on site. Been coming for several years and the quality and service is great. Like the pub and family restaurant. But keep in mind on busy summer days/nights. The family side gets busy quick. Highly recommend the seafood stew. Pricey. But the halibut scallops prawns and shrimps well with salad and garlic bread it's actually more than worth it. And a healthier version of the chowders you find at most places.

The Yelp reviews on this place are a little hit and miss, but I thought everything was pretty solid, overall. We stopped by this place after a day of hiking, so we didn't have too high of standards--we just wanted some burgers and beer--and this place delivered! There are some craft beers of their own on tap (which is good to know for you Untappers out there) as this place does count as a 'place to go' if you're on the Oregon Beer Trail. Service was slow, but not as awful as it was painted to be. I'd say, if you've got some time and you want a beer and burger, check it out.

I'll give one star for the convenient location of this place. However, that's as far as I can go. We went there for dinner this evening and we're very disappointed in the service and the food. Waitress was rude. Clams were cooked way to long and rubbery. Definitely way over priced for lousy service and food. Would never go back again.

Beer is fantastic and the food was good too! Got the clam chowder, which as thin but had lots of meat, and the chili. Very chill location and with a visit while in town.

We had a great time eating here for dinner. We had a table overlooking the main street in Cannon Beach, Hemlock St. It was great for people watching and it was a beautiful evening to sit outside. The food was good, the waiter was very nice, and it was fun place that is definitely worth going back to!

Not the best place I've eaten, but not the worst. Our burgers were pretty yummy, using Tillamook cheese of course, and drinks were fine as well. But the service was pretty terrible. You basically seat yourself and then are forgotten about. If you're looking for a quick meal, this is not the place, unless they become better staffed. Also, watching your server chug the rest of his or a buddy's lager isn't what you'd expect from a business. It just seemed really unprofessional, and didn't feel like they cared much for their job as a waiter. Then again, if I waited tables somewhere as busy as this tavern, I'd want to drink on the job too. Basically, stop by for a visit if you want a burger & a beer (and don't want to lose your parking spot, because Cannon Beach sucks for that), but not if you're in any kind of a hurry.

By far the best cider I've had! I tried their blackberry beauty beer and it was good too. Halibut fish and chips were amazing. The fish was moist and not a ton of batter. Service was good too. Not a whole lot of seating though.

For the multiple years of my patronage, Bill's has consistently served good food at a good price. The sign just inside the door warns off those in a hurry. This is a relaxed brew pub with great burgers and sandwiches. Just had my favorite oyster burger with Annie Mays Irish stout on nitro. Wait staff is always friendly. Can't pass through Cannon without stopping here.

You should stop here if you're coming to Cannon Beach. They have several on house beers on tap and their flights are customizable. $1 per taster and they're all pretty good. I was a fan of their IPA's and Porter. The burger, fish and chips, salad and tuna melt I've had here have all been great. Their food is pretty tasty bar food. Perfect ender to a great day on the coast.

Thought we'd give this place a second chance. While the restaurant is in an excellent location walking distance to the beach, the staff and service is unfortunately once again a one star, the food and beer are also just ok.

Bill's is our go to place---fish and chips the best in town. ..best salads --you can't go wrong all with the BEST service ! Burgers are good and they have a micro brewery for a wide selection of beers. Get a Growler to go!

Four words: halibut fish and chips. The fish was fresh and moist, protected in a crisp yet not too bready batter. Fries are so-so. Onion rings were good but nothing to write home about. Beer selection decent. But I like the ambiance - comfortable, popular and relatively friendly service. I come back year after year for the fish and chips. It's a nice way to end a day at the beach or on your way home after a coastal hike.

Ehh this place is okay. We were in desperate need of food after a long day at the beach. It was around 3pm in the afternoon, so a decent amount of the lunch places were closed until door. We decided to just eat here since it was in a convenient location in the heart of town. The food is nothing to write home about. I had a bowl of clam with a side of garlic bread, along with some oyster shooters. The girlfriend ordered the halibut fish and chips. Like I said before, food was okay but definitely on the pricier side for what it is. Service was friendly and fairly attentive considering we were one of the few tables sitting on the outside patio.

Review on food - GREAT. The onion rings were crispy, my fish and chips were great and the burger was delicious. Review on beer - eeeehhhh... not as great. We didn't care for our beer but that might be personal taste. Service - attentive and friendly.

This is one of those really rare cases where I wish yelp had an option for zero stars. The food is so-so (pretty standard pub fare). The beer is meh (not bad, but with so many stellar breweries on the coast you'd think they would up their game a bit). If this review was based on food and drink I'd probably give it a three star. But this review is based on the service. Never have I seen such a blatant level of rudeness and lack of respect for their customers. The act of simply ordering your meal is met with the attitude that you're making the server's day pure misery. I've been there a couple of times and gotten this response from a number of employees, which leads me to believe it isn't just a few bad apples but an example set by management. The employees are easily flustered when faced with multiple tables, and are vocal about their disdain for having to wait on any of them. It's a toxic environment, that can be felt the instant you walk in. The only thing going for this place is the location smack in the heart of downtown. But I'd rather just cross the street and hang out at a place that actually wants me there.

    (1)
  • Doug M.

It's in the heart of downtown Cannon Beach with a few tables perched outside above the main drag. In tourist season it gets very crowded and the waitstaff get overwhelmed. Figuring their customers are there for one time only, they don't worry about being polite or patient - just turning tables. I, on the other hand, have returned many times over more than 15 years. Why? On a slow day, it's comfortable and they have a few good sandwiches. The beer is nothing to write about but serves its purpose. It can be very comfortable on a chilly coast day. The Driftwood bar across the street has better food, beer, and TVs for sports. On a crowded summer weekend, Bill's staff fall apart. They're demanding, loud and and just try to churn guests through as fast as they can. The wait to get seated can be crowded and when it does, the Bill's staff lose all grace and humor. They can be downright rude - especially to kids. When my wife asked to speak to the manager about how our daughter was treated, the manager just said. "I have 11 tables to turn and don't have time for this s**t." Nowhere else to go with this complaint if management won't respond. So here it is on Yelp.

Horrible service! Food was mediocre as was there beer. There are plenty of other options in Cannon Beach.

  • Brandi K.

Let me start this by saying the only reason I'm entertaining 3 stars is because they brew their own rather delicious beers. The food was mediocre at best and that's saying a lot considering most of it comes from a bag... Kettle brand chips with the burger and santitas with the most bland house-made salsa I've ever experienced. Please don't promote a menu item that is terrible and then serve it with a $2 bag of crappy tortilla chips. Service isn't really great either. Our first server would ask us a question and before we could answer, she'd be on to the next table. Uh, can I have a millisecond before you wander off to assist someone else? Please and thanks. The second server was alright and sufficiently attentive, though neither of them really worked for the 25% tip I left. You're welcome ladies.

What the heck kind of Tavern doesn't have buffalo wings? The reviews are correct about the snarky servers.I certainly got that impression. The Fish and Chips were fine as was the Chowda. Can't say I'll rush back here but it is adequate fare.Limited family seating.

Drove to the coast for the day to beat the heat of the city and celebrate my birthday. As soon as we ordered nonalcoholic beverages we never saw our server again. Had to flag down several people for refills, check, etc. Burgers were average, portions small and prices differ wildly from their online menu. Disappointing service and experience. We won't be returning.

Server.... you could not have sucked more. You literally messed up every... single.... thing. Over the last 10 years that I've lived in Oregon I have become accustomed to lackadaisical service. Like it or not, the service out here is "laid back." When compared to other states where the service staff gets paid $2 an hour and must provide good service to pay their bills, Oregon servers are getting full minimum wage plus tip... and it is often reflected in the lack of attentiveness they have. This was on FULL display at BIlls. There were 5 people in our party... 3 adults and two children. The server comes up to the table and takes our drink order... two beers, 5 waters. We wait for what seems like way to long for how busy they are and finally he shows up with 3 waters and a beer. When I ask about my beer he gives me a "oh ya sorry, what beer did you have? I tell him it was the same beer as my buddy... the same beer dude, you know, the one beer you guys are known for....rocket surgery this is not. So he comes back with the other beer (no sign of the other two waters) and goes to take our order. This is the interesting part:He takes out his pad and pen to take our order... but mysteriously puts it back in his pocket instead opting to "mentalize" it all. Normally no big deal, but after he already forgot our beer/water order I just thought.. "here we go!" He seriously messed up every single thing we ordered: He ordered my daughter a half order of chicken fingers.. we ordered a whole He gave my buddy the right burger, wrong side. He gave me the wrong side and forgot to add cheese to my burger. He gave my wife the wrong sandwich all together He totally forgot my son's order. Then when we gave him two cards to split the meal, he ran everything on one card and half on another card.. how does that even happen? Food was average for a pub, the service was obviously as bad as it gets. BTW... at no time did the guy offer any kind of apology or any hint that he did anything wrong. He jsut acted like an aloof hipster that was too stoned to care about anything besides his next bong hit.

We went to the beach for lunch and saw Bill's had pretty good reviews. I ordered the Bacon Cheese Burger and my wife had the Halibut Fish and Chips. The food was very good. I tried my wife's Fish and it was awesome! The place is clean, fast and friendly. Very nice inside, but we sat on the patio since it was so sunny and warm-ish. I'm not a beer drinker but it looked like they had some good beers. I would defiantly reccomend this place and would gladly return.

Poor service! Our waitress had a real attitude problem and acted burdened when we asked for information about the different beers. If they don't want to talk about the beer maybe they should have the information printed on the table for people to read. Food came out slowly (does it really take 20 min to dish up chips and salsa??) and it was mediocre at best.

Homemade root beer was good. It contains no caffeine or sugar and is made with honey! I liked the bar atmosphere. They had a couple wood stoves heating up the place. Hubby had the Tuna salad sandwich and asked for it to be made into a tuna melt which they agreed to with no problem. He liked the curry lemon flavor added to t. I had the homemade chili dog! Not sure why it didn't come with chips? Just the right spice for me.

My husband and I always make sure to stop here for lunch everytime we come to Cannon Beach..sometimes we make the drive out here from Portland just to eat here and seeing the beach is a bonus ;) they have really good burgers and make their beer in house! Service is also nice!

Ok, I have eaten at Bill's for lunch the last three days. The Indian Summer Pale Ale is excellent,. one of the best in Oregon and we have Boneyard RPM and Crux Outsider two outstanding pale ales to compare it with. The Halibut Fish and Chips were also among the best I have had.. The second day I had a Tillamook cheeseburger and Onion Rings again washed down by the Indian Summer pale ale. The service was excellent Thank you Joel. I am giving this place five stars, because I cannot think of any reason not to. This was my first trip to Cannon Beach, But the next time I'm in town I will definitely come back to Bill's Tavern .

Pleasantly surprised with the yummy clam chowder and side salad. The highlight for me was the Blackberry Beauty beer. It is now a favorite! Great service. Warning, the honey mustard dressing must be made with the hot Chinese mustard. Good but clears your sinuses. The waitress did warn me.

The food is okay, but the service is horrible. Not worth the price. The server was questioning how much food a friend of mine was ordering. Seriously? She can order as much as she wants. My husband asked a question about a sandwich and she gave him attitude. I won't come here again.

We hadn't been here for a few years and were happy enough to have returned. The burgers were very good and my wife enjoyed the fries which added $1.50 to the bill. I tried three beers: the duckdive pale ale was as good as I remembered and the 2x4 stout was better. The IPA was not as good. I was disappointed when the server told me he hadn't been told anything about the IPA so couldn't tell me about IBU numbers. The kitchen took 40 minutes to get us our burgers which seemed slow. Prices were fair. We will be back.

This review is for the service only, not the food. It had rained earlier in the morning but had since stopped, so we asked the hostess if it was possible for us to dine outside (rather than in the somewhat darkened and unimpressively "homey" interior). Very snappily, she told us that she wouldn't wipe down a table for us and then turned away. Her attitude was SUCH a turn off. We even considered getting take out because we had wanted to try their fish and chips, but we decided that we didn't want to patronize a place with such terrible customer service. Her demeanor was just soooooo unnecessarily hostile. Even if she wasn't willing to wipe down a table for us, there were much better ways to go about saying so. Although I'm disappointed that we didn't get to try their fish and chips, I'm also a little glad that this happened because we ended up going right across the street to Driftwood, where the service was good and the food was excellent.

A totally solid pub with unsurprising, competently done, sanely priced tavern classic: burgers, fish'n'chips, chili dogs, etc. The fish sandwich and the chili were both good, and at $8 for a dinner portion, you really can't complain, There's no much impressive food in Canon Beach; just a lot of places that want to look and sound impressive. Bill's Tavern is earnestly a bar with bar food. If you're looking for a quick, pleasant, casual, no-nonsense meal, this will do just fine.

So it all made sense when my wife notices some symptoms of meth use by our server. Not to be accusatory, but it just made sense. I have worked many food service jobs in my life, from dishwasher to manager. What I saw here was truly shocking, and the kitchen and servers were fighting and swearing at each other, trying to keep it together. When we arrived there were many open seats, we ordered. Nice atmosphere, no chip on our shoulder. As we waited for 45 min to get a grilled cheese and a couple of hot dogs. I was amazed that no food was coming out of the window, none. It was 12noon, the lunch "rush". No one had food on their table, no food was coming out. Very strange. the servers were fighting over whether they should support the kitchen or kick them in the ass. Our Methy server seemed to be the lead server, and told the one stressing that nothing was coming out, you need to learn to be calm. Then a customer left, I was wishing it was us. Unreal amount of time for the size and capacity of the joint. So my problem came when our food arrived nearly an hour after we ordered. Pub fare, nothing special. I thought I should mention that I thought 45 min was really too long. Touchy subject, but I was hoping they would "Receive' the information. Instead I was told, that's the way it goes, unapologetically. . Methy was shifty, and treated me like a frekin asshole. for mentioning the delay. I was not an asshole when I arrived, I promise, and it made me feel horrible. But I will not live in fear, by not saying what should have been said. At the same time all the tables 40 or more plates were being slammed at the window, like they were showing the servers "we can slam you too". It looked awful. I didn't want to pay, I wish I had the balls to not pay. Who ever owns this place has a gem, with scumbags ruining the place. I am not proud that I wrote ZERO on the tip line, but other than a shit yelp review I don't feel I had a voice. It would have been so easy for the server to say sorry its been a rough day, and I would have felt sorry for the gang and tipped well. I hope someone has an intervention at this place. NO reason this place couldn't be great.

I ate here with my sisters and we loved it. I started with one of their craft beers, blackberry beauty. It was perfect. My sisters both tried it and wished they would have ordered it as well. Mind you we have very different tastes so I'd say you can't go wrong with that beer. A nice cup of clam chowder followed the beer. It was good. For dinner I got the grilled oysters and French fries. Best, most tender, melt in your mouth oysters I've ever eaten. The service was good and the atmosphere was nice and cozy. One of my sisters had the sautéed shrimp with brown rice and she said the shrimp were cooked perfectly...nice and tender. My other sister went with the fish and chips which were your standard fish and chips. We ended by sharing a piece of coconut cheesecake which was divine. My one sister was disappointed that they didn't serve decaf coffee. Other than that it was a really nice evening.

This is a great place to stop in when you just want something reliable without having to expel the energy required to try a new place or new food. They have all the fall backs here - I had a tuna sandwich one day for lunch and a burger another night for dinner. Beer selection is good - and they carry local stuff as well. Definitely a place you can come to hang out and not feel rushed or like you have to look nice, but still clean and lacking a rowdy bar vibe.

Upon our most recent trip to Cannon Beach we stopped by Bill's. We were greeted as soon as we sat by a lovely waitress. We ended up ordering a pitcher of the Blackberry Beauty (amazing!) and some apps & chowder. We decided to stay for dinner as the food was delicious & we were pleased with the decision to do so. The fish & chips we had for dinner were fantastic. The cod was moist & battered/ fried perfectly. Overall very pleased :)

Went there today with both kids. Got in right away. Waiter came and seemed really disinterested in us. When we ordered drinks he didn't seem to care that what we asked for was not available. Once our order arrived he was no were to be found. The busser hovered over our table. The food was ok. Nothing spectacular.

If you've been to Cannon beach a few times and want to try a new local restaurant then definitely give Bill's Tavern a chance. We came on a busy Friday and the two exceptional servers busted their behinds to get us everything we wanted. It was simple: beers, a cheese burger with avocado, and fish and chips. The food was good but not something to write home about. It served its purpose. We were starving. They have self seating which was a bit alarming at first because little old me was worried they would forget about us since it was a packed night. This place is pretty good. Their prices are super affordable. ~$10 for a burger with fries. I will be back and I'm bringing my bear pack next time.

Was staying in Cannon Beach for one night and came here for dinner. We are now a fan of Bill's! My husband ordered a burger and it was AWESOME (I tried a couple of bites)!! I ordered the halibut fish and chips at $17.50 (waiter recommended since it was fresh)! However, it wasn't worth the money since I only got fish nuggets-honestly they were like the size of fast food nuggets. They were good but the price paid didn't equal to the amount of food I got. The tarter sauce was more mayo than tart but it was still good. When we visit Cannon Beach again we'll eat at Bill's for sure and I'll be ordering that tasty burger!!!

This place has a quite a few interesting beer options and the one my gf tried which was a Blackberry flavored one was no exception. It had a nice fruity taste to it. We came here for some simple bar food and it wasn't bad. I had gotten a bowl of Chili which was some of the best I have had in awhile. It was very tasty and filing and made me wish I should have gotten another bowl. My gf ordered the shrimp cocktail and I was surprised they served only small bay shrimp in a cup instead of the big size shrimp. The oyster shooter she had was also small in size. This place is more expensive compared to some of the other places we visited. I expected better quality from this place than just your typical bar food with such prices, but since it is in a touristy area I guess that would be the norm. Service was decent and nice, but you do have to find your own seat here as they don't have a hostess area. I also noticed that they have a no minor policy here since they serve alcohol and am not sure if they can except families with children.

As tourists in a tourist town, our party googled a bunch of places in Canon Beach to decide where to eat, this place seemed to have a good menu and very reasonable prices. The problem is, when we sat down and started to order the prices were about 30% higher than online. When I mentioned it to the waitress, she said, "We don't have a website." So I looked again and the web address is their name dot come; the tabs say "OUR Menu; OUR Beer; OUR Location," etc.; the bottom of the website says that the content is their copyright; and I called the phone number and they answered. I mentioned this to the waitress and she "Yeah, people do weird things on the internet." I said, "Like pay for other peoples websites and pay for other peoples advertising???" She just shrugged and had a tough-luck attitude and told me to call the owner. Anyway, the net result is that if you rely on your phone to find a place to eat, you'll wind up paying 30% more at this place. Until they take responsibility for THEIR website, I can only muster 1 star. (Besides that, for general food & service, I'd give them 2.5 or 3)

Cool little Microbrewery and Tavern in downtown Cannon Beach. On our trip we all had the Halibut Fish and Chips special as well as a Beer Sampler. The fish was delicious, and the price is as cheap as you will find for Halibut on the Oregon Coast. The Beer sampler was great as well which leads to the buying of more, and more beer. I also recommend the Clam Chowder which was extremely flavorful, and filling. Overall a great place for families, friends or just hanging out.

Overall, a solid experience. Beer is brewed on site. I tried the BlackBerry beauty and the ASA's premium blonde. I'd order both again. The clam chowder was great and the service was quick and friendly. I'll be back.

We got to sit right down despite the place being very busy. I think we were just lucky there since it was just the two of us. The waiter was prompt and courteous without seeming all that into it. Definitely not rude, but not trying his hardest to be friendly, if you will. Didn't bother me, but I did notice. He also seemed to be able to accurately take orders without writing them down. Always makes me nervous to see that happen, but hey, we had no issues with what we ordered. My wife and I both ordered bacon cheeseburgers. They were both stellar. Big, done but not burned, thick slices of bacon, a goodly portion of cheese... Just really, really good. I got slightly more fries than my wife, but that worked out fine for us since I stole some of hers anyway. They were very hot and very, very good. The beer I ordered was great. Some type of amber ale. I really enjoyed it. I'm sure it helped that we were both very hungry. The food came in a reasonable amount of time, especially considering how busy they were. The only real bummer was the root beer my wife ordered. Homemade, no refills stuff. It was almost undrinkable. Pretty much terrible. Very flat and not very good at all. My wife is not the sort to send things back (I've never, ever seen her do it before), but she actually sent it back. But the waiter was very good about it and we were not charged for it. The decor was also amusing. Oddly, we both independently took pictures of things on the walls. Overall, a very positive experience. We plan to go back in the future when we return to the beach.

This is hard to write. I have been going to Bill's since it was a little cabin with severe drainage problems.....for a LONG TIME! Years ago they rebuilt it and I have been heading there pretty much every time I am in Cannon Beach, both for the food and the beer. Over the years I have noticed they have been slipping in terms of both of those things. Especially during the high season, they are very popular and increasingly acted like they didn't really care. Yesterday was the final straw...two friends and I tried to enjoy lunch outside (on a Monday, mind you) at the only vacant table. These days you can't even get table service outside (!), so I politely went inside and after I FINALLY got someone's attention, asked them to clear away the previous diner's mess. No luck. I think we would probably still be sitting there if we hadn't decided we have had enough of Bill's "service". Never again! Cannon Beach has an increasing range of culinary alternatives, and I hope Bill's will wake up to this. They certainly won't see us again....we walked over to the fantastic Lumberyard Rotisserie instead and had a fantastic lunch! Which is what I recommend you to do as well (without waiting around for someone at Bill's first). Who needs a DIY restaurant??

Greatest chowder in Cannon Beach! Amazing beer, and tasty food.. Small seating area otherwise a perfect 5stars!! It will always be a must stop from now on when I'm in town. The beer was great for a local craft brew and after a few different tasters I finally settled on a favorite to enjoy with my meal and chowder!!

Their beer is really awesome. We take mini vacations to Cannon Beach about twice a year and make sure we make time for Bill's. My goto beer choice is the Duck Five Ale. It's hoppy, but a little sweet. A nice easy-drinking beer anytime of the year. The menu is pretty typical pub fare, but done well. They have some seafood items like fish n chips and clam chowder. My favorite is the shrimp and cheese sandwich. They do not skimp on the shrimp or cheese. Eat on the porch with your dog our inside. One side of the restaurant is kids-friendly. Outer you can sit at the bar and talk to the locals. Always fun.

Bill's has an awesome atmosphere and great beer but the food left us wondering. After the tasteless 5 bite size pieces of halibut and chips for $16, sad burger and a couple beers we were not impressed to say the least.

The burgers here are excellent. Also ordered a flight of beers and all were excellent. Very enjoyable after a long walk on the beach. Very clean and service was great!

Super chill vibe in the bar with efficient service and great value. Never had to wait for a table. Food comes out quick and the bartenders are friendly.

We had bad service, very slow. We were asked to move after we were told to seat ourselves, which was annoying. Food was basic and mediocre. Soda was flat. We were pretty disappointed! We won't go back, there are too many other restaurants to try in town!

slow service but the beer is good. Sit back and enjoy!

Not bad. A little bit of chaos upon arrival. First come first serve, luckily we sniped out a table outside and were able to grab it. Felt a little bad about hte pepole inside waiting for line but we just went by what we were told by the wait staff. I had the halibut fish and chips which were edible and flaky nicely breaded. The place was so busy that the service was lacking. I had to order at the bar, leave them my card then go back outside and wait. No big deal, but table service would be nice.

Great service and environment. Had the tuna. It was delicious. The tropical rice with mango and coconut milk was super amazing. Kinda pricey $24 but worth it when I had it. Atmosphere is very relaxed and easy going. Perfect for a night out at cannon. One the nicest restaurants food wise here.

this place was good... or maybe fine. My husband ordered a burger and I ordered the chicken burger.... Nothing spectacular but fine... he said the burger was lacking flavor but the beer was great. Service was fine. Nothing to write home about. Dont know if I would go back.. I give this place a.... meh

We visited Bill's on a day at the beach. What's nice is they have the food you crave when visiting the coast. Chowder, Fish and Chips and also Beer! They brew their own beer in house and it is delicious. I actually had the bacon cheeseburger which tasted great. My wife had chowder that was perfect. On top of the great food, they have outstanding service. I will always recommend Bill's to people coming to Cannon Beach.

Always good beers to choose from, seating on the deck on a warm summer night, and beer battered lightly fried seafood medley of goodness. The waitstaff is relaxed and accommodating. Our picky eater kids always find something good to eat too. We always stop when we are in town.

We enjoyed our meals & the beer. Bartender/Server was slammed but did an awesome job handling everything. Seemed like a popular spot. Definitely worth a visit if you like beer.

When in Cannon Beach, it is difficult to resist a visit to Bill's. Typical pub fare is served here with good beer for a small pub. The blackberry beer is consistent and tasty, the atmosphere is warm and cozy, the service is fast, and it is kid friendly.

I had the most delicous bacon cheeseburger (Tillamook cheese) here along with very tasty homemade brews. I substituted onion rings for the fries and was glad for my choice. Wife had mixed greens salad and the fish and chips which were also good. Finished it off with a carrot cake, also good. I chose the pale ale then the stout - both very tasty. Wife had the blackberry beauty ale. Wow! It was really delicious, so much so that she had an unusual second round. I tried it too and I found it not at all too girlie. The service was great. Our waiter, Brian, was very friendly and personable. We're here one more night and rather than try one of the other places here in town, we feel compelled to go back for more tasty burger and brews. I rarely give out 5 stars, but this place earns it.

Needed a good place to eat at Cannons Beach, we searched Best place to eat, and Bills came up.. There was 4 adults and two small children with us. The atmosphere was really comfortable for all of us, and there service was great! We had a waiter with Tatoos he was fast and helpful. The food was fairly priced and portions good sized. I had a Cobb salad that had all the fix ins was really good,I would get it again. Also tried the Fish and chips. Wife got prawns in white wine sauce, she said it wasn't that good. I had a stout they brewed there it was really good, and wife had There homemade root beer , she said was really good too. If we were there again in Cannons beach we would eat there again.

My friend really wanted to stop in for the fish and chips and the Blackberry beer. I didn't want fried food, so we ended up at Ecola Fish Market for dinner and stopped at Bill's for a beer. He raved about their fish and chips so maybe next time... My general impression: Cool little place. The blackberry beer was good. The bartenders weren't particularly friendly, but service was quick. Worth another visit in the future to try out the fish and chips.

Another visit to Cannon Beach and to Bill's Tavern by three couples who enjoy this area. I will recommend the "Evil Twin IPA" as a lunchtime libation. A sign on the wall amused me: "Beer - not just a breakfast drink!" We return to Cannon Beach once or twice a year, and Bill's Tavern is one of our favorite choices for lunch or a brew.

Very poor service we have attempted to come back several times my husband loves the blackberry beer and each time we are totally ignored everyone around us is greeted and served and we just sit and wait! We finally just stopped coming I guess we aren't local enough!!!

The hamburger was real good on the burger. The oysters were very good on the oyster burger, as well. The chips and salsa were overpriced and the homemade root beer didn't have much body so we wouldn't order those things again. The service was good and the waitstaff were helpful in choosing a beer. We would go back. One side of the restaurant accepts kids,

Great handcrafted beers! Ordered the oyster shooter which was a huge oyster in a shot glass with a glob of cocktail sauce on top. It didn't work and blobbed out of the glass onto us. They should instead try making mini bloody marys (or better yet Caesars!) in the shot glasses with a smaller oyster. Maybe with a sprinkle of fresh grated horseradish on top.

Good beer, decent food. Don't expect 5 star food at a brewery/pub. Enjoyed their IPA. Would come here again if I visit the Oregon coast again.

Dropped in for lunch after a mornings shopping in Astoria. I know this is a tourist haven, but the spruce beer in the spring is worthwhile. Ordered some burgers, desent enough. Almost had the place to our selves, 2 other tables taken. The issue...staff outnumbered the patrons. Problem...no service, staff all giggling and visiting behind the bar. I guess I was OK with just my first and only beverage. If you are running a business and your staff are acting like a bunch of kids in a school yard...you need new staff. It takes more than location and a good brewmaster to succeed. I guess this is why only 3 tables were occupied.

We love it here. Best clam strips ever! I love the blackberry beauty and the hubby loves the Red amber. Great service and you can bring a growler of your favorite home with you. We drive from chinook and is worth it!

Great burger, fries and beer. We loved that this place was open a little bit later than a normal dinner time. Service was good, waited a bit on refills but our server was super nice and no complaints here. Would definitely go back here for some great burgers :)

Ordered fish and chips and it was devine! Crisp flavorful batter, clean fresh cod. The fries were thick cut, crisp and hot. Everything was fresh + hot. Fair lunch price, too. Fun rustic atmosphere. Super busy on weekends. Parking was tough.

Great option as it is often hard to find good food at the coast. We have always noticed that this place was busy and skipped over eating here in the past. This time, we went right as they opened at 11:30. The other bonus is that they brew their own beer.

We really enjoyed our meal here. The server was attentive and helpful in making my vegan cohorts meal choice a vegan friendly one (they had several options that could be made vegan). I had the oyster burger, which was cooked well and tasted great, not overwhelming amazing but a solid burger. The beer was delicious, we had the ragsdale porter and loved it, even considered getting a growler to go. Best part was that it was priced right. Especially for such a touristy town with tourist prices, we were happy to see the menu and prices when we walked up. Explains why the place was near packed on a Monday off season at lunch time.

Went for a burger and beer today. Waited at the bar to order and was ignored by three different servers before I finally left. If it had been busy I would have understood. But all three were wandering around and didn't even acknowledge me. Ended up at Seaside Brewery with better food and beer.

This place was great. Quick and friendly service, large portions. Not my favorite batter for fish and chips but still good. The onion rings were awesome and they served the best clam chowder soup i've had to date. 1 payment per group.

The service was absolutely horrible, it wasn't too crowded but we waited a very long time for our table to be wiped down, for the waitress to take our order, for drinks to arrive, for our food and then our check. Although the beer was good, I only had the opportunity to order one, even though I was charged for two. When I brought this to the attention of our waitress, she said she assumed someone brought me another one. Really?? Although I had time to drink a pitcher, I was never asked if I would like another. Food was mediocre, atmosphere ok, but I would not return or recommend.

Went two different times on this trip. The BLT sandwich is really good. Burger good but served lukewarm. Service was excellent the first time and horrible the second time. Second time around they seemed under staffed and service was slow. First time better. Fresh Halibut was amazing - but they don't allow salad substitution - so you get a lot of fries which we didn't want. Salads are mediocre at best, small and lifeless. Atmosphere is fun - loud and lively. Needs to be cleaner inside.

Great little brew pub! Food is yummy (I had cod and chips) and the beer there is great too! We went on a Sunday night, so it was quiet, insuring fast and prompt service. I have been before on a Memorial Day Monday, when it was extremely busy, but the service was just as prompt. The atmosphere in the restaurant is very cozy and warm. Your furry friends are more than welcome on the front deck.

On a mini vacation looked up a spot to have a locally brewed beer eat and watch the basketball game found this place. Upon entering the bar noticed the TV was small not a flat screen either no volume or captions server said captions would cover half the screen so they turn them off. Okay fine we got a beer no hef :( okay a blonde I got and it tasted like water my partner got a IPA not hoppy at all very light as well. We were never asked if we wanted food our server never smiled we got one coaster and we never got a tab she just verbally told us the price! Also when we needed something no one was around! Awful service over priced not welcoming at all awful place!

  • L G.

My favorite fish and chips. Almost worth a trip to the coast just to eat lunch at Bill's. They have raised the prices recently so the fish and chips were $17 or more. A bit spendy. Service is spotty and many of the servers act as if they're a little too cool to be waiting tables. The location on the main strip is nice and ensures that the place is usually busy.

    (4)
  • Jessica P.

Let me start out by saying Best Onion Rings Ever! My husband and I had the pleasure of eating their onion rings 3 years ago and we still talk about them to this day. So it was an easy decision to make a detour on a recent trip just to get some onion rings. We were so glad that we stopped because they definitely held up to our memory of them. They are covered in the most perfect beer batter, thick and delicious. You don't need condiments because they are definitley flavorful enough on their own. Just crispy and delicious perfection. We have had other food here and it isn't quite as amazing as the onion rings. We split the halibut fish and chips, which were good but not spectacular. They were a little too thick and the fries seemed like they were frozen, not made fresh. This place is a cute little pub, with wooden booths and tables. They have beer on draught and a happy hour, but come here for the onion rings, trust me!

Average pub food. Good beer. Service quick, but not overly friendly.

    (3)
  • Joe D.

The beer was pretty good. The food was average. This is a smaller place than I imagined. Brew vessels take up some much needed seating. Hate to say it but this is one brewery which might want to brew offsite for space purposes. It would be hard to find a table at normal meal times. Not bad overall.

My wife and I were vacationing in Cannon Beach and were a little pressed for time, so we decided to try Bill's Tavern & Brewhouse on the main drag. It's a quaint little seat-yourself pub/restaurant. When we walked in, the only seating available was a 2-top table and a 4-top booth. We grabbed the booth, and waited for our server. Several (3-5) minutes passed, we had yet to be greeted, and a family of four came in. The only available seating was the remaining 2-top, so there they stood, waiting for a larger table. We decided to give them our booth, and moved over to the 2-top. Within a couple minutes, the server went to the family at the booth we just gave up, took their drink order, and brought it back to them, all while we were still waiting for our initial greeting. We both laughed, as this is the kind of thing that happens to us. Soon afterwards, the server did come over and took care of us. From that point on, she was fine, even as it got busier. We both ordered the cod fish & chips ($10.50) and soda's. They came pretty quickly and were really good! The pieces were big, light and tender, and not greasy (like so many pub-style fish & chips can be). The tartar sauce was good too (that can make or break a fish & chips meal!), and they have malted vinegar on the table for those who enjoy it. Their seating is limited, and by the time we finishing our meal it was standing room only. We were sitting close to the door, so we felt a little uncomfortable with people standing inches from us as we were eating. Not the restaurants fault, though. On our next visit to Cannon Beach, we'll go back to Bill's Tavern & Brewhouse for fish & chips.

The craft beer was pretty good (cherry porter and barley wine); that is once it warmed up. Who serves craft beer at about 40 degrees and in a chilled glass? Seriously, it was ice cold. The low temperature destroys the flavor. In all of the craft breweries I've been to, I have never before had beer served at a flavor-destroying cold temperature. It's a real shame too because the beer is pretty good -- better than a few of the breweries I've been to in Portland even -- the temperature just kills the flavor. I wouldn't have even left this review if the waitress wasn't nasty when I ordered my second beer and asked for it in a glass that wasn't ice cold. She acted like it was a strange request and acted like I was crazy for not wanting my craft beer at 40 degrees. She told me "well, you could have ordered it that way" as if craft beer is typically served in an ice cold glass. As other reviewers here have mentioned, rude service. There was another gentleman that we talked to after - - another server - - that was pretty nice. So I guess whether you get two star or four star service depends on who your server is.

    (2)
  • Teresa C.

Let's start this off by saying the service was exceptional. Ambiance was typical beer bar. Unfortunately the food was just ok. Fresh sure but pricey for what you got. I tried to talk BF out of going there because we get enough of beer bars in PDX and nothing can top the Fisherman's Stew we've had at other establishments (see other reviews). I had the Fish and Chips and the Halibut was tasty but the rest of the plate made the meal feel cheap and for $19.50 you don't expect cheap. The frozen french fries and grilled garlic bread were not a suitable accompaniment to the fish. In this day of artistic food expression, they could stand to update that plates look a little. Feeling a bit 1998.

  • Jake S.

Unsanitary: it was seat yourself so we picked a table they hadn't bused yet because it was the only one available and they just picked up the dishes but didn't even bother wiping the table. Rude staff Slow service: took an hour for two burgers. refills took forever so-so food small Never going here again. We were only visiting Cannon beach and thought oh this place is packed, let's see how the food is. Super disappointing. If you want to be treated like crap, you should definitely make a stop!

The highlights of my visit here were the blackberry beer and the decor. I LOVED the blackberry beauty, so it's worth a trip just for that. I also enjoyed checking out the walls that were painted like the night sky (in the bar and also in the restroom, even!) - see photos for coolness. I ordered the fish and chips, and my husband got the fish burger. Both were just OK, nothing special. I would even go so far as to say my fish was a little bland, and it's really not hard to impress me with fried things. The garlic bread accompanying the meal was tasty, though. Our server was nice, but we hardly ever saw her. I overheard her telling a customer that only she and one other server were staffing the restaurant at that time, and the place was full!

Cool place right in the heart of Cannon Beach. We went here on our first night in Cannon Beach. We got the 2x4 Stout. Really good. I'm not to big into stouts ( ambers and porters are my thing) but this was good. Got the fish and chips meal. Really good. Deep fried to perfection. The fries were awesome. Calm chowder was a little runny. My wife got the Bacon, cheddar, burger. Very good also. The down fall is they charge 1.25 for fry substitute. All meals come with potato chips. Oh well over looked it and ordered fried anyways. Server was on her game. Very busy, but she made sure she got to everyone very quickly. I would for sure tell people to check this place out, when they go to Cannon Beach

If you happen to be in Cannon Beach or visiting anytime soon, you must do yourself a favor and stop by Bill's Tavern! The have wonderful craft beers on tap and make the MOST amazing breaded and grilled oysters. The oysters are harvested locally and you can taste the freshness in every bite...truly magical!

It's your basic burger and brew tavern. I remember it from about 30 years ago so it was fun coming back for a visit. It had seemed to pick up a McMenamins vibe though it was not. That's ok. The food was much better. I ordered the oysters and they were melt in your mouth good. I also asked her to hold the slaw and the fries and bring me a big salad and I would pay the difference. She said forget it. You break even. I was impressed after that. They have one side for minors and one side for majors. I mean, adults. Very crowded so we sat with the coal workers.

Nice looking joint with good beer, but rather poor service and too many noisy children to be able to enjoy it. Perhaps 'Bill' should open up 'Bill's (soundproof) Playpen & Happy Meals' next door to the 'Tavern & Brewhouse' so all the kiddies will have a place to go other than the bar. There are separate sides for the 21+ bar and 'family dining' in the current structure, but the place was so overrun with kids when we were there it didn't really matter. We took our beers to an outside table in front of the bar so we could enjoy the fresh air and (relative) quiet, only to have another large family with screaming children sit at the other porch table-- right next to us. Tried to place an order for onion rings at the bar, but it was taking way to long to get an employee's attention and by that time I was getting a headache and decided to leave-- so I can't comment on food quality. Maybe this place is great after 22:00 (when hopefully all the kids have gone home to bed), but don't bother visiting before then unless you enjoy a dining experience akin to the Fun Zone at a county fair.

The beach is a beautiful place to visit year round, but what most people forget to mention is that most restaurants are closed on Tuesday and Wednesday. So dining on the coast can be a challenge mid-week. Arriving on Wednesday night, there were only a couple of options available in Cannon Beach. Based on reviews by friends, we headed to Bill's Tavern. This was a family meal, so I appreciated that the brewhouse was evenly divided into a bar area (no minors allowed) and brewpub. Both areas are rather small and our party of six had to grab a nearby table and add it to our booth so we all fit. Our group couldn't have been happier with this casual brewpub. The entire experience reminded me of McMenamins, but better. For example, they had gorgeous murals of sea and sky throughout the restaurant including a pier on the back wall that mesmerized me. They brew both beer and rootbeer locally and offer a few other Oregon brands like Ninkasi. The food was the best surprise, especially considering our lackluster experience with McMen's. Our group ordered fish-n-chips, seafood stew, the burger and grilled cheese sandwich. The fish dishes were excellent for the price. At dinner, you still have the option of ordering the smaller and less expensive lunch portion of fish-n-chips which included four nice chunks of meat (your choice of cod and halibut). My family is still raving about the seafood stew. Chock full of about four types of fish and served hot, it was enjoyed by all. Service was a bit casual and forgetful, but they were also slammed when we were there. Did I mention most other places were closed in town? The root beer is quite tart so I'll probably skip that next time around. Bill's Tavern was easily the most successful family meal during our trip. We went to many other places that were less kid friendly, so this really hit our sweet spot where everyone can have a good time.

The burgers are good and the home made root beer is awesome. My friend had tasters of their beers an said that the blackberry beer is delicious. The staff was friendly and the environment was good. One of the best places to eat while here since there isn't many dining options around. Prices are great as well and you got what you paid for. One of my favorite places to recommend!

My female companion and myself decided to stop in after a day in the sand. We were promptly greeted and started with the hummus platter complete with pita bread and everything that could be considered Greek. Paired with the pale ale, this was a good start. I ended with the cod fish and chips that came with French fried. The lady got the black bean burrito. Both hit the spot and we left quite filled and ready for the long trip back to Salem. The place is worth a stop and try. Our server was also great.

The Food: 1st Visit -- Had the mixed seafood sampler bowl. Everything was fresh/piping hot when served and it all blended together very nicely. Seafood doesn't really fill me up, but this big bowl did. Can't remember, but I think I substituted the salad for clam chowder which was a GOOD DECISION. Do it! They stick to the recipe and do a nice job... 2nd Visit -- Just needed something to eat and ordered a Chili Dog. It was REALLY good! Maybe I don't eat enough chili dogs at speciality-oriented restaurants, but this was the best I've had. Goes well with the beer. This wasn't too expensive either. The Beer: ohhhh sooooo good!! their fruity stuff is pretty hopped as well. I really liked their brews. Most of what I've ordered hasn't been a disappointment -- from light (hef/ruby) to dark (stout) beer. They always seem to be out of the blueberry beer...so I've never tried this. Atmosphere -- small and always packed. gotta do it in order to get good food, I guess. Service -- kinda sucked. we had a decent server on my first visit. However, on the second visit, we had a server from "hell"...didn't really listen to us and ignored us (until we literally yelled him over). Let's just say he wasn't tipped very nicely! Overall -- expensive place but what place in Cannon Beach isn't? Taking that into consideration, the quality you get from here is exceptional compared to most places in Cannon Beach. However, I can't decisively say this without having tried a few other notable restaurants in the vicinity.

Stopped in here to try their beers since they are the only place in Cannon Beach that brews their own (as far as I know). Had samples of all their beers and shared a hummus plate with my family. Most of the beers were good and the food was prepared well. It isn't huge inside so it could be hard to find seats but when I went it wasn't bad. Staff seem to be on top of things and attentive. Beer prices were good for the area.

We have been here on several occasions, and every time we go for the fish and chips. There are a lot of place to go in town for some fish and chips, and I have to say when it comes to halibut these guy totally nailed it. That combined with the beer menu makes this our favorite place to stop when in the area.

Open late. Fast and friendly service. Fair prices. FOOD: bay shrimp cocktail: tonnnssss of shrimp. delicious. simple. grilled cheese (w/Tillamook, obviously): served on good wheat bread, generous amount of cheese, and dill pickles! satisfying! cobb salad w/ chicken: served with honey mustard dressing made in-house. good but lacking avocado. OVERALL: I'd go back. It is a nice relaxing atmosphere where you can get good, fairly-priced food. In Cannon Beach, it is hard to find this combo!

The food is good, the ambiance is chill, and the service is always pretty great, but the Blackberry Beauty is the reason to come here. It's a must-have, and if you live any sort of driving distance from Cannon Beach, you should seriously consider bringing home a growler to tide you over. One of my favorite beers!

I hate to do this. I waited 2 weeks to write this, hoping in time my dissapointment would ebb. Here's why I won't be going back. My husband and I went for lunch on a Wednesday. We live in Portland and went for a day trip to the beach. First of all, although the place was empty our waiter never seemed very interested in being a waiter. We had to find him for initial service, and even simple things like my soda refill never happened. The burger was dry, fries cold, my salad was wet and limp. My husband got the blackberry(?) Beer, it was excellent. We decided to buy 2 growlers to go. Unfortunatly when we got home, they were both totally flat!! I even tipped 20% with the growler price included! Boy do I feel like a sucker! 70+ bux ill never get back!

Good burgers and home made chili. Halibut and chips are proper. Local brewery. Good pub food. Great brew and nice variety. Great to sit outside when the weather is good enough.

Wow, I'm impressed. As a self-proclaimed "Beer Geek" I tend to take my ale pretty seriously. The beers here are surprisingly good. Usually tourist-ish towns will have a brewery...well...just for the sake of having one. Tourists love saying things like "we went to this CUTE little LOCAL brewery" and then rambling about their entire vacation, complete with photos to someone that may not or may not care. Getting to it: the beer here is pretty damn good. I got the sampler, which gives you a modest pour of everything they brew. The Duck Dive Pale Ale is, BY FAR, the best beer. I love hoppy, floral, aromatic ales. I even guess the strain of hop used in this beer (Amarillo, my favorite hop to homebrew with) and it turns out I was correct! If you're a hop head, resist the temptation to order the IPA and go with the pale! The food: my father and I both ordered fish and chips. He had the cod and I the halibut. We traded some chunks of beer-battered fish to compare and contrast. They were both EXCELLENT. This is some of the BEST FISH AND CHIPS I've ever had (I've had it in Scotland, if that counts for...anything). The fish was so firm and clean, it reminded me of deep sea fishing as a kid (I grew up in Florida)...I used to *hate* fish as a child, but the ones we caught fresh and cooked the same day were AMAZING. My halibut was almost like chicken in it's firmness, impressive.

Sleepy beer bar that offers a small but satisfying menu of typical bar food. Ate the fish and chips and a burger. Pretty standard, no bells and whistles.

I have to say that this has been my favorite place in Cannon Beach since I started visiting each year. The beer is absolutely amazing (Love the Blackberry Beauty) and reasonably priced. Food menu has a good selection of healthy options. I was very pleased with the garden burger and the salads are fresh and tasty. Seafood is fantastic and the fried items are not greasy or overcooked. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Thursday nights are a treat when the bluegrass band plays.

The fish was very good...but the service was very poor.

Lots of options, fresh beer, and a wonderful place all around. The pale ale esta muy bien, and the seafood dinners are amazing. For the price and the taste I could hardly be more content. I'd be there in a heartbeat on our trip to the coast.

We lunch here a lot. Sandwiches are good (even the oyster burger--and I'm not an oyster lover). It's a busy, loud, bustling place (more a tavern than a restaurant, with a family side and a bar side), but I like the ambiance and decor. Waitstaff is friendly, fast-paced, and skilled, though occasionally somewhat harassed. The house-brewed beer selection is excellent. This is not a place to while away the hours and gaze longingly into someone's eyes. But the borderline chaos creates its own energy and always gears me up for a long walk on the beach.

This is an excellent brewpub. Their burgers are extremely good as is the beer. Blackberry Beauty is a common favorite. Friendly service and a good environment only serve to add to the restaurant's charm. Overall this is a good place for everybody and any possible downsides are completely eclipsed by the ubiquitous goodness of the pub.

BlackBerry Beauty. That's all. Just absolutely terrific. The service and food were totally 3 star but gosh darnit...their Blackberry Beauty brew deserves a star of it's own.

To me this is what a brewhouse on the beach should be. All others should come here check it out and see what a five star brewhouse is. Place is busy during the high tourist season and you may wait for a table as it is seat yourself here. there is a minor seating section if your coming with a family that may make your wait longer. I waited for 30 to get a table while the fam shopped in the many tourist shops right next door. Had their Hefe which was awesome and full of flavor with a great milky yellow color. Service was great and super friendly, not what you ussually get in a tourist town during busy season. Food was awesome as we split a few appetizers. The oyster burger was great and not to fishy tasting as other places. The fried seafood sampler was awesome with huge portions. with our appetizer i had the duck dive pale ale. It was excellent and well balanced. best place on the coast, we stop here everytime we go out to the coast.

To step into Bill's is to step into a local and independent McMenamins only without the below average beer; here it's worse. Since I've never eaten here I can't judge the food, but based on the menus (which use what I'm pretty sure is the exact same font that McMenamins uses) and the food I've seen I'm not missing a lot. Focusing on the beer it's all either unremarkable or just plain bad. Most everything on offer hovers at the 5% ABV which makes sense since Cannon Beach is as tourist heavy of a beach town as there is. They would seem to be pinned to trying to produce beer for the widest range of people and this is what makes their produce fall so flat. The two beers that inch close to 7.5% ABV, the stout and the Porter, are sickly and cloyingly sweet. A totally missable spot with no real redeeming qualities for a person interested in good beer.

Great beer!!! Stopped here on a brewery tour up the coast, and was pleasantly surprised! They had the summer seasonal Spruce Ale - which was phenomenal. Did not order food, bartender was nice and offered some suggestions, but seems more of a casual stop in than service oriented restaurant. Definitely worth it if you are into beer though!

"Super Duper Loved It"! our server Stone was wonderful. The outdoor seating was great (and pet friendly). They had many homemade beers to choose from- we really enjoyed our blackberry beer and amber beer. The bacon cheeseburger was thick juicy and delicious. The homemadebatter on the cod was top notch! The french fries were meh otherwise this would be a five star review. The clam chowder was thinner than most but had great flavor.

Visited on a slow December Tuesday afternoon. Loved the old pub ambiance, service was casual but attentive, food good, beer GREAT, enjoyed the funky banjo music on the radio. We ate and drank and enjoyed ourselves. No kids this day, just a few of us tourists and some locals at the bar. We sat on the right side of the entrance, I believe it is the "pub side" so if kid-noise bugs you, stick to the right! Extra treat was meeting the Brewmaster and chatting with him about his brewing, loved that! Only regret is that we didn't try the Berry ale... Went back on Wednesday to find that this is a day off for them in the winter, so will put that on our Beer Bucket List for our next visit!

After hunting for a place to eat after 9 PM, we were saved by Bill's Tavern. Most of the restaurants were closed. They brew their own beer, which was quite impressive. You can see the large apparatus when you walk through the door. The house special can be found posted on the wall - a list of their house brews. We had a few; all very tasty. As for dinner, we had a burger and a BLT. The BLT was simple and delicious. The waitstaff was tentative and friendly. Great place to stop for a drink and sandwich after a long day at the coast.

On family vaca. Here's our take. service was friendly and timely. Local beer was good and fun. Halibut fish and chips: 3/5 tasty but a bit dry. We liked the fries. Cheeseburger: 4.5/5 kids split it and loved it. Black bean burrito: 2/5 tasteless with basically no seasoning. Overall we would come back but would order different things. If this was in my home town, it wouldn't be on my top list of restaurants.

I ate here with my family when we went to Oregon for vacation. It was a terrible experience. Out waiter was pushy and rude. Our food took more than half an hour to get out to us. People that came in 20 min after us got their food before us. My family and I decided to get the seafood platter. And what came out was a regular sized dinner plate with fried fish, mussels, and shrimp. (but only 2 of each.) The food was cold and the fry batter was soggy and disgusting, it was definitely not worth the whopping $20 price tag. I would not recommend this place. I am just sad that out of all the restaurants in the area we had to choose this one.

I love this place! It's the BEST place in town to leisurely have a few beers. The food is traditional pub food and is good (grilled cheese on a cold day - what's not to love!). But the beer is what we go for -- some great stuff on tap, and a cool atmosphere. I love the Blackberry Beauty the most, but all their beers are SO good! We went to CB for a long weekend, and stopped into Bill's (after having gone many times on different trips before) to have a beer. Notice I said "a" beer. We ended up staying for hours enjoying an afternoon of intense day drinking (and eating), and met a nice older couple who ended up picking up our whole tab without telling us... I don't think they knew how long we'd been there and what our tab was when they offered! I wish this place was open later on the weekends. Other than that, it's one of our favorite places in town. Service is AWESOME, beer is delicious, food is good & the atmosphere rocks!!! We go to CB every year and this is a must-stop every time... we always end up here for hours! Get a window/booth seat, kick back and relax. Hint: It's even cozier when it's stormy outside!

went there for a late lunch. The hamburgers were just OK, nothing special, and served with potato chips that were also OK but not special. Bar food.

We were so happy we decided to eat here. We read some reviews and decided to do a late dinner Wednesday night. Our server was awesome. She had at least nine tables on both sides of the restaurant but was super friendly and attentive. When were a bit worried when we saw the McMenamins style menu, but it was so good. The chowder was filled with the most tender clams we have ever had, and huge pieces of bacon too. My boyfriend is a burger snob and loved the bacon cheeseburger. My hard cider was awesome and the honey mustard on my salad cured my cold. Loved it. We will be coming back.

Stopped in for a quick lunch while out exploring Cannon Beach. We were walking around the beach on a hot day, so we had cold beverages in hand and were immediately asked to "hide them" as no outside food or bev are allowed. Well - that was patronizing! Then, they ran out of the brew we were interested in ordering. The menu is lackluster and everything is overpriced. The Shrimp & Cheese sandwhich is the tiniest little bay shrimp you can get out of a can on toast with cheese. The burgers were SO greasy! and to make matters worse the cook put the mayonaise on the burger side of the bun. Yuck. All sandwiches and burgers come with a skimpy amount of slightly stale potato chips unless you want to tack on another dollar fifty! The service was awful. Our waitress did not make us feel very welcome and continuously forgot about us. Next trip to CB, we'll know NOT to eat here.

If you are a fan of mediocre food and mediocre service, be sure to eat here. We give it two stars for the recession ale and the cozy fireplace on a chilly cloudy day.

I was looking for a good fish and chips place in cannon beach and decided to check out this one. Parking was a challenge, but hey this is cannon beach where anywhere you go to park is a challenge. This place does have outside seating, but for obvious reasons everyone was sitting inside. Since this is a really popular place around lunch time, the wait time to get a seat was a little long - around 15 minutes or so. I ordered the halibut fish and chips which came with a piece of garlic toast. The fish was done just right and was very moist, the batter was not too thick and you could actually taste the flavor of the halibut. The garlic toast was very good also. However, I did not like the fries which I thought had no flavor at all. I also tried a piece of cheese burger with sweet onions which turned out to be really good - the sweet onions were a nice bonus and the meat was cooked just right (moist and not at all dried out). The sesame bun was also very good. The burger is something I will definitely order next time. Overall, eating here was a good experience and I would go back - worth the wait....

Eh... We did take out so maybe that was the problem, but I had the fish and chips and wasn't blown away. They were kinda soggy and the tarter sauce had a weird taste to it. But my hubs had a burger that he said was great. So 3 stars it is.

We hunted around a little bit to find the right dinner spot in Cannon Beach. We almost went for some of the pricier, sit-down seafood places, but I'm glad we went with our instincts and chose Bill's. The happy hour vibe was conversational and lively, and every seat at the bar was happily taken. Awesome chowder, a savory, salty oyster burger, and a refreshing pint of the earthy, crisp Blackberry Beauty, which is only one of eight adventurous home-brews they have on tap. To be honest, the cod was a little bland, but I guess that's why they offer halibut fish & chips for $3 more. The best part was the price, which beats any of the other places we looked. I'd definitely come back here on another trip to Cannon Beach. Hopefully, I'll get to stay the night next time.

Let yourself in & just find any open table.......don't wait to be greeted or seated or you'll be wasting your time. The entry way is small & right at the front door, so waiting there just causes problems. Once we found a seat we were greeted fairly quickly, had menus to look at & our drink order taken. Halibut Fish & Chips were made with FRESH flaky halibut & nice light beer batter. 5 thick chunks or fish come with tasty steak fries, & malt vinegar, tarter, cocktail sauce, ketchup are all available. I hit the fish with the malt vinegar & ketchup & was too full to finish all the fries. The Duckdive Pale Ale was very good........typically I drink Sierra Pale Ale. Our waitress checked in on us & got our tab without a long wait, even though the place was busy. I would recommend trying this place M-Th since it gets packed quickly as it seems to be one of the more popular places. Some live music was playing & it was Thursday night. A definite stop for top notch Fish & Chips while in or near Cannon Beach!

Bill's was nice little place to grab a beer and some Clam Chowder. The service was nice, food was good and so was the beer. They were out of their Blackberry beer, which was a disappointment because that's the one I wanted to try. Overall I liked the atmosphere and everything else about the place. I will return if I'm going through Cannon Beach.

Found this place while driving around Cannon Beach, nice little place with good food and good beer. They brew the beer on premises and serve about 5-7 beers nightly in addition to the regular tap beers. The staff was friendly and helpful. Our waitress was great and offered great suggestions. Ended up having the black bean burrito with Chicken and my friend enjoyed the Shrimp and Cheese sandwich.
